Cardinal Newman Short Story Competition

The Newman Catholic Center is pleased to announce the results of the 2008 Cardinal Newman Short Story Competition. There were a total of nine stories submitted representing three of the Five Colleges. The jurists wish to commend all the writers for their work and heartily encourage you to continue writing. Please know there is an audience for authors with a Catholic sensibility.

The results of the 2008 Competition are:

FIRST PRIZE, $300

Once again, congratulations to all who participated in the 2008 Short Story Competition.

The Newman Catholic Center intends to run the Short Story Competition again in the next academic year. Please keep an eye on this web site for details.



These were the guidelines for the 2008 competition submissions:

  • All submissions must be 8-10 pages, double-spaced and in 12-point Times New Roman.
  • Include your name, mail address, email address, Five College affiliation, major, and year of graduation on a separate cover sheet.
     
  • All submissions should be edited carefully.
     
  • Original short fiction only.

The final deadline is Friday, April 18th at 5:00pm. Early submission is encouraged. Competition results will be announced Sunday May 11th. Winners will also be notified by mail.
